The first IVF baby was born 40 year ago this year. It is now estimated that more than 7 million babies have been born through this revolutionary technology. While IVF has made parenthood a reality for many of the one in six couples who experience infertility, it has not been adopted in a universal way around the globe. There is wide variation in utilisation rates, treatment outcomes and costs. This seminar will highlight the trends and drivers of ART treatment in Australia and internationally, particularly focusing on the role that economic drivers play in access and clinical practice.
