This is a Thesis Proposal Review (TPR) on childhood mortality among self-settled Mozambican refugees in Agincourt, South Africa. The presentation will focus on three key thematic areas: the application of the healthy immigration effect theory on childhood mortality among refugees; the effect of the Mozambican civil war on childhood mortality; and mortality clustering among multi-generation in Agincourt, South Africa.

Speaker Bio:

Wonder Agbemavi is a second-year PhD student at the School of Demography, Australian National University. He originates from Ghana where he completed both his undergraduate and master education in Population and Health from the University of Cape Coast. His research interests are in refugees’ health, childhood mortality, sexual and reproductive health, and indigenous knowledge.

He has co-authored 17 peer-reviewed journal articles and has completed 37 verified peer reviews with notable journals such as Archives of Public Health, BMC Public Health, Scientific Reports, PLOS One, BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth etc. Kindly use this link to have a look at Wonder’s work here.
