ADSRI said goodbye to Professor Peter McDonald at a dinner at University House on 28 June attended by current and former colleagues.

Peter has had a very long association with ADSRI and Demography at ANU. He was the Director of ADSRI from its inception until his term ended at the end of June 2013, and the Head of the Demography and Sociology Program and the Head of the Demography Program from 1996. He also completed his PhD in 1972 under the supervision of Christabel Young, Jack Caldwell, Mick Borrie, Norma McArthur and Lado Ruzicka.

Peter has been awarded a strategic appointment in the Crawford School of Public Policy at ANU by the Vice Chancellor and will be focusing on population policy, Indonesian demography and ageing. Although Peter is now located in the College of Asia and the Pacific, we look forward to continuing our collaboration with him and wish him the best in his new role.
