An exciting part time opportunity is available for an experienced Research Assistant to contribute to research projects at the Australian Demographic and Social Research Institute (ADSRI).
ADSRI is an interdisciplinary research institute that applies quantitative and qualitative approaches to evidence-based policy issues in Australia and its region.
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated person with expertise in research to work part-time on projects related to family formation in Australia. The projects involve qualitative in-depth interviews and focus groups as well as analysis of quantitative surveys.
There are two part-time positions offered with working hours projected to be between 10-20 hours per week for each position and will depend on the specific research assistant capabilities and experience of each successful applicant.
To be successful in this role you will have excellent research, organisational, communication and interpersonal skills with experience in managing research projects. The You will be required to assist with the analysis of data, assist with the production of reports, conduct literature reviews, and maintain databases. You will also be called upon to arrange interviews and travel, summarise information and respond to telephone and email enquiries.
Applicants should have (or be working toward) a degree in the social or behavioural sciences. Experience in the use of computers for data and text processing is essential. Experience in the use of statistical or textual analysis software (such as Stata or NVivo) is highly desirable. Other essential technical abilities include familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel, knowledge of survey research design, and experience providing assistance and advice.
