Preparation for the 2nd Asian Population Association (APA) conference

Three ADSRI staff, Mohammad Jalal Abbasi-Shavazi (APA President), Terence Hull (Vice President), and Bhakta Gubhaju (Council member) visited Bangkok for the APA council meeting to discussed the program for the second APA conference to be held in Bangkok during 26-29 August 2012.

The APA is a professional association of demographers and population experts in the Asian regions. Many Australian demographers and ANU graduates are among around 1250 APA members. A total of 1500 abstracts submitted to 19 conference themes including reproductive health and sexuality, gender, fertility, mortality and child health, household and family, migration. The APA Scientific Committee selected around 450 papers for oral and 200 papers for poster presentations at the conference.
