Dear demographers,

In the first half of 2024, we were all busy with courses, grants, and conferences. But some were busy finishing their dissertation and we would like to repeat a big round of applause to Jolene and Shao-Tzu for getting that PhD diploma on the same day! They add to a record-year of graduating PhDs with Audrey, Lili, and Mengxue.

A big contingent of demographers went to the Annual Meeting of the Population Association of America, and an even bigger one is going to the European Population Conference in Edinburgh (12-15 June). As good ambassadors of Australian demography, please do your share and remind everybody to come to the 30th International Population Conference (IPC) to be held in Brisbane, from 13 to 18 July 2025. It will be a wonderful experience! (Find here more information about the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population - IUSSP ).

In the second half of the year, we will be having our School's signature event (TBA), the ECR symposium (Nov 19?), APA conference (Nov 20-21), and the visit to Kioloa (27-29 Nov). Please reserve the dates!

Cordially,
Vladimir
