Students and staff at WIP Day

The annual ADSRI PhD WIP Day was held on Monday 22 September 2014. PhD candidates and Master of Social Research Advanced students presented their research progress to ADSRI staff and students. The WIP Day was organised by Dr Iwu Utomo, HDR convenor, who was assisted by PhD students.

This year the breadth of presentation was very rich including family issues in Australia and China covering household structure, marriage patterns and dual caring; youth employment in Indonesia, Egypt, Jordan and Bangladesh; migration and left behind families in Vietnam; ageing in Australia and the Philippines; dynamics of cancer mortality; Facebook personal networks of older persons; social inclusion and bullying; impact of natural disaster in the Philippines and Vietnam; and modelling in the care decision making process.

Students spoke for 10 minutes followed by 5 minutes of questions from the audience. The WIP Day is a good opportunity for students and staff to find out about the wide variety of research being done by our students and for the students to get feedback and new perspectives on their research.
