The School of Demography would like to congraulate the ANU team of academics who have been awarded a National Health & Medical Research Council Partnership grant ($1.4m). This team was led by Dr Rosemary Korda (NCEPH), with Asociate Professor Nick Biddle (CAEPR), Dr Naomi Priest (CSRM), and Professor Heather Booth (Demography).
This grant will be used to create a whole-of-population linked data platform to provide strong evidence on heath and heath care to inform health policy and practice. The project will link Census, mortality and key health data to answer partner priority research questions, centred on three themes: variation in fatal burden of disease; primary and secondary preventive cardiovascular disease (CVD) care; and end-of-life care, with a focus on CVD. This will be acheievd in partnership with the University of New South Wales, the University of Adelaide, the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare and the National Heart Foundation of Australia. This project will build on the links betweent the Research School of Social Sciences and the broader scientific community.
