New research from Tom Wilson and James Raymer finds dramatic changes to the composition of the overseas-born population in their analysis of the period 1981 to 2011. Immigration to Australia now hails from a much greater range of origins than the largely settlement migrants from the United Kingdom and other parts of Europe prior to 1981. The long-term effects of this migration and its diversity are apparent in the age compositions of the migrant populations.
