The book, Fathers in Cultural Context, has been selected as the 2014 winner of the Global Psychology Book Award from Division 52 (International Psychology) of the American Psychological Association. The award letter stated: ‘It was agreed that of all those submitted, [this] book makes the most significant and fundamental contribution to psychology as a global discipline.’
Associate Professor Bruce Smyth was the lead author of one of the chapters in the book, ‘Fathers in Australia: A contemporary snapshot’. Co-authors were Jennifer Baxter and Lawrence Maloney from the Australian Institute of Family Studies and Richard Fletcher from the University of Newcastle.
