Bayesian demographic estimation

Applied demography produces some challenging and distinctive statistical problems. For instance, applied demographers often need to estimate and forecast thousands of cross-classified rates and counts, subject to complicated sets of constraints. The talk describes a long-term research program to bring these problems into a Bayesian statistical framework. The talk gives an overview of the framework, and presents some illustrative results.
