As part of the 2023 New Zealand Population Conference Population futures in an uncertain world organised by the Population Association of NZ (PANZ), we are organising a DEMO-ECR (Demography - Early Career Researcher) symposium as a pre-conference event to be held at the conference venue, at the University of Auckland.

The main objective of this symposium is to create a relaxed and welcoming environment where junior researchers can share their works-in-progress and thoughts with their peers.

All fields of demography and population studies are welcomed, as well as all related areas of social sciences. Theoretical as well as empirical papers in, but not limited to, the following topics are encouraged: families, fertility, sexual and reproductive health, internal and international migration, mobility, ageing, life course, inequality, health, historical demography, mortality, and methodological approaches.

This will be an opportunity to present without worries, free from the pressure an ECR might feel at big national or international conferences.

Come and join the network of DEMO-ECR!

To participate, please submit an abstract before 30 May 2023 via the 'Register Now' link.

Please direct any questions related to the symposium to Shefali Pawar or Bernard Baffour

This event is a joint initiative of the School of Demography at the Australian National University, Te Ngira Institute for Population Research at the University of Waikato, The Queensland Centre for Population Research at The University of Queensland, and The University of Auckland.
