Asia-Pacific Demographic Database

Updated, based on the United Nations, World Population Prospects: The 2010 Revision.

The United Nations Population Division of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) prepares estimates and projections of population and demographic indicators for countries in the world. These estimates and projections are updated every two years. The present data are based on the 2010 revision of the World Population Prospects.

The main purpose of this database is to provide comprehensive information on sex and age distribution of population by five-year age groups and demographic indicators for countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Data are also provided for other regions of the world for comparison. It is hoped that these data will be useful for teaching, research, planning and policymaking.
